Gerald Vining

Gerald “Jerry” Vining, age 72, of Grand Haven, passed away August 31, 2017 at a local care facility. Jerry was born December 3, 1944 to the late Merle and Edna (Snyder) Vining in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He married Barbara Eide on April 12, 1997 in South Dakota. Jerry was a self-employed truck driver for many years.  He enjoyed traveling the United States and building model trucks. Jerry loved to talk to people and he would strike up a conversation with anybody! Later in life he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and his cats Pudge & Sami-Jo. Jerry is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Diana Crosser of Holland; sons, Bob (Michelle) Vining of Spearfish, South Dakota, Michael (Janel) Vining of Aberdeen, South Dakota and Patrick (Michelle) Vining of Grand Haven; mother of the children, Mary Meek of Holland; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren & sister-in-law, Betty Vining of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Linda, brother, Clayton Vining & daughter-in-law, Carol Vining. A Celebration of Life for Jerry will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 6 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Reverend Al Nolan officiating.  Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society.
