George Joseph Rowell

George Joseph Rowell, age 69, of Grand Haven passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Mercy Hospital.  He was born October 6, 1949 in Grand Haven to the late Herbert and Jacoba (VerBerkmoes) Rowell. 

George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  He worked at Oldberg's for many years, was a former first responder for Crockery Township, and was an auto mechanic who loved operating the tow truck. George was a member of Four Pointes Senior Center and former member of the American Legion and the VFW. 

He is survived by his children, Jennifer Melvin and Adam (Brenda) Rowell; two grandchildren, Kylee and Levi; two sisters, Emily (Jesse) Jewell and Betty (Jack) Wydeck both of Grand Haven; and brother, Charles (Carla) Rowell of Canton, MI.  He was preceded in death by his sister & brother-in-law, June and Mike Johnson. 

The Memorial Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 in the multi-purpose room at Pinewood Place, 1500 S. Ferry St., Grand Haven. Full Military Rites will be performed by the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post 28. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Four Pointes Senior Center.
