Dr. Charles Lee Arnold

Dr. Charles (Chuck) Lee Arnold, D.D.S., age 84 of Ferrysburg, passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2018. He was born July 1, 1934 in Grand Haven, MI to the late Lee and Helen (Dunphy) Arnold. Chuck graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1952 and went on to earn his BA and DDS from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.   It was at a sorority formal at U of M where he met his wife of 61 years, Abigail Justice.  He often said it was a crown she had on one of her teeth that caught his eye.  Not only did she become his wife, she also served as his first patient.

Chuck and Abby moved to Grand Rapids, MI where he practiced dentistry for over 50 years taking care of generations of patients.  He was an avid fisherman, bird hunter, golfer, and Michigan fan who was the life of the party and loved by all.  In September of 2000, Chuck and Abby moved to Spring Lake, MI fulfilling the dream of living out his days overlooking Lake Michigan as his parents did.  He will always be remembered for his kind heart, his willingness to help, and his tremendous generosity.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Abigail A. Arnold of Spring Lake; his four children:  Mark (Simone) Arnold of Steamboat Springs, CO, Julie (Vincent) Fitzgerald of Cranford, NJ, Andrea Arnold of Grand Rapids, MI, and Peter (Lenka) Arnold of Steamboat Springs, CO; and five grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Hoeffler, Amy Fitzgerald, Vincent Fitzgerald, Thomas Fitzgerald, and Emma Arnold.

Private Family Services have already taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
