It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Postema announce her passing at the age of 90. Born July 27, 1927 Dorothy was a lifetime resident of Muskegon, Michigan. During the last several years she suffered from Alzheimer's and lived first at Muskegon Christian Care, and most recently at Sunnyside Assisted Living in Cadillac, Michigan. Her 5 daughters were constant and loving companions until her passing.
Dorothy married Verlin (Curly) Postema in August of 1945. They spent more than 40 years together first farming, then building houses and finally owning and operating motels throughout Michigan. Curly preceded her in passing in April of 1985.
Dorothy was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Those surviving her are daughters, Patti Austin (Doug), Linda Dood (George), Barb Austin (Bill), Teri White (Bill), and Robin VanWormer (Scott); brother-in-law, Werner Meister, 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Maxine Larabee and Barbara Meister.
Dorothy served Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Muskegon, Mackinaw City Bible Church in Mackinaw City, and most recently Lakeshore Baptist Church in Grand Haven.
A service will be held at Klaassen Family Funeral Home on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Nate Birkholz officiating. Guests are welcome to visit with family at 1:00 pm, one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeshore Baptist Church.
