Donald Peter Lach

Donald Peter Lach, age 85, of Grand Haven passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017. Don was born on November 19, 1932 in Grand Haven to Peter & Zofia (Zmuda) Lach. After graduating from high school he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Don married Patricia Zolinski in Grand Rapids on April 12, 1957. She passed away on August 2, 1996. He was a life-long member of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Catholic Church and faithfully served for many years as an usher. Don was known as a friendly, kind and humble man. He worked for Bastian Blessing for over 30 years. After retiring Don worked as a handyman for Grand Haven Area Public Schools. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his yard, and was an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan. Don is survived by his daughters, Lezley Lach and her husband, Larry Kuharevicz and their children, Cameron, Sydney & Jack; and Tracey (Jim) Olthof and Tracey's children, Evan & Cole; son, Greg Lach; sister, Rose Benes; brother, Corky Lach, and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Gennie, Irene, Stella, Florence & Violet; brothers, Bruno & Emil. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Schwartz presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Sergeant Alvin Jonker Post #2326. Memorial contributions can be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan.
