Donald Anderson Obituary

Donald A. Anderson, age 90 of Grand Haven, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at Robbinswood Assisted Living with his family by his side. He was born on December 18, 1928 in Sparta, Michigan to the late Arthur E. and Bernice (Johnson) Anderson.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Marjorie (Mast) Anderson.

He is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Jim) McCann of Jackson, MI; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and very special friends and neighbors, Denny and Teresa Cuti, and Dick and Carol Brook.

Don served his country in the United States Army in Fukuoka, Japan during World War II.  He worked as a truck driver for Associated Truck Lines for 31 years before he retired in 1986. Don lived in Englewood, Florida until 1997, when he moved back to the Grand Haven area. He was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Grand Haven, and Englewood, Florida Methodist Church.

Don was an exceptional woodcarver who enjoyed boating, playing the piano, and spending time with his family. At his request, cremation has taken place. A Private Graveside Service was held at Grand Haven Township Historic Cemetery.  His family would like to thank the staff at Robbinswood and Hospice of North Ottawa Community who comforted and cared for him in his final days.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation.
