Diana Dee (Preston) McCarthy

Diana Dee McCarthy, age 76 of Grand Haven, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019, with her loved ones by her side. She was born on December 13, 1942 in Detroit, MI to the late Daniel and Louella (Sparks) Preston. On February 3, 1962, Diana married the love of her life, James A. McCarthy. He preceded her in death on July, 7, 2014.

Diana had a love for her family and friends, and she loved to paint and play games of any kind. Diana loved being out in nature, taking country rides and visiting the U.P. and Alaska.

She will be remembered mostly from her years as the owner of the Shamrock Inn Restaurant in Grand Haven. It was here that she would sit with you, have coffee, and chat. Diana loved serving, cooking, and connecting with everyone who visited the restaurant; she enjoyed making people happy!

Diana will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Brenda Bell (Joe Stillson), Tamara LaMadline, and Kelly Jo (Matthew) VanDoorne; 12 grandchildren: Elizabeth Anthony, Kristen Bekius, Tommy Bell, Sarah Bell, Jessica Johnson, Chelsea LaMadline, Jared LaMadline, Keegan (Meghan) VanDoorne, Quintin (Ali) VanDoorne, Katriona VanDoorne, Brittany VanDoorne, Brody VanDoorne; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, George McCarthy; grandson, Daniel Botsford; great-grandson, Ryker LaMadline; sister, Peggy Tennant; brother, Robert Preston; and half-brother, Chuck Lapreze.

The Memorial Service for Diana will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Lifetree Community Church (10933 Lake Michigan Drive), with Pastor Jeff Elzinga officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m on Tuesday, September 24th at the church.  Memorial Contributions may be made to Lifetree Community Church.
