Dennis G. Johnson

Dennis G. Johnson, age 72, of Grand Haven died Friday, February 16, 2018.  Dennis was born on February 27, 1945 in Detroit to the late Frederick and Ethel Mae (Thompson) Johnson. He graduated from high school and went into a career with the United States Government IRS Department in the Detroit office that spanned more than 30 years.

Denny was a very generous person, and was friendly to people, often using his quick sense of humor. He enjoyed talking to people over a good cup of coffee. He also loved being outdoors, fishing, or walking his beloved dog Sammy.

He moved to Grand Haven after his retirement to be closer to his family. He quickly made friends, and will be missed by those close to him, like Don and Jane Nelson, Bob and Kathy Damiani, Jimmie Voss, John and Lynn Bolderson, and the neighbors on Waverly Street.

Dennis is survived by his beloved sister, Dorothy (Rick) Grabowski of Grand Haven, and nieces and nephews; Lori (Tom) Dara, Brian (Julie) Bolderson, Jennifer (Tyler) Miller,  Amy Parker, Scott (Ginger) Johnson, and David Johnson and several great nieces and nephews; Briana, Steven, Caley, Ethan, Peyton, Eli, Happy, America, Emily, Ben, and Madelyn. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, David and nephew, Curt Bolderson.

The funeral for Dennis will be on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 12 Noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Kurt Wenzelburger officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
