Charles Frederick Ruiter, age 83 of Grand Haven, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019. He was born on April 26, 1935 in Grand Haven to the late Bart and Dorothy (Raymond) Ruiter. In 1961, Chuck married Carol Heethuis in Muskegon, MI.
Chuck attended Grand Haven High School and played football for the Grand Haven Buccaneer’s. Following High School, he served his country in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. Chuck attended Harvest Bible Chapel of West Olive, and was employed by Oldberg’s and Sealed Power. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, and tending to his veggies and flowers in the garden. Chuck enjoyed traveling, especially the summer trip he and Carol took to Alaska. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them.
Chuck will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 57 years, Carol; daughters, Lori (Rick) Wetzel of Illinois and Sandra (Peter) Kurtius of Florida; sons, Scott (Sharon) Ruiter of Newaygo and Kurt (Dee Ann) Ruiter of Big Rapids; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Lynda (David) Laug of Grand Rapids, MI; and sister-in-law, Helen (Ken) Brouwer of Arizona.
The Celebration of Life for Chuck will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Harvest Bible Chapel (15020 Stanton St, West Olive, 49460) with Pastor Jasper Swaney officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church, from 12 – 1 p.m. Interment will be at Grand Haven Twp. Lakeshore Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be given to Harvest Bible Church-West Olive or Holland Rescue Mission.
