Carolyn “Ky” Frances Bean, age 81 of Grand Haven, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at a local care facility. She was born on January 19, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Azel E. and Celene E. (Rowe) Bean.
She was a graduate of Ridgewood High School’s Class of 1955 in New Jersey, and went on to attend Boston Conservatory of Music to pursue her Bachelor’s degree. Carolyn worked as an Administrative Assistant at Mitsubishi in New York City, the Orchestral Hall in Chicago, and Topco in Skokie, Illinois.
In 1995, Carolyn moved to Grand Haven and became a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she eventually became a Lay Reader and Eucharistic Minister. Carolyn loved the arts and music, and after her move to Grand Haven, joined the Central Park Players. Her last production was playing the lead part in “On Golden Pond” at the age of 75. Carolyn was a musician who enjoyed playing the piano, doing word search puzzles, reading, and watching old movies.
Carolyn is lovingly remembered by her sister, Eleanor Hinchman of Grand Haven; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Chastain.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at St. John’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. Jared Cramer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or the Central Park Players.
