Carol (Warfield) Foster

Carol Foster, age 81 of Spring Lake, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019. She was born on May 3, 1938 in Jenkins, KY to Virgil and Vivian (McConnell) Warfield.

Carol was a graduate of Creston High School in Grand Rapids and attended Grand Rapids Junior College.  She worked as a legal secretary for Varnum Law for more than 30 years. Carol married the love of her life, Calvin Foster Jr. in 1981. Together they enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing cards.  She wintered in Florida for many years and was a big fan of the Detroit Tigers. Carol was also a supporter of MSU athletics and she will always be a member in good standing of Spartan Nation.

Music was a big part of her life and it was not unusual to hear the sounds of her favorite songs blasting from her jukebox. She loved animals but was especially fond of her dogs.  Carol was a great listener with a mentoring and welcoming personality.  She enjoyed deep friendships and was often characterized by her children’s friends as their “second mother.” Carol’s biggest joy was her grandchildren and she loved to attend their many plays, concerts, games, matches, and events.

Carol is survived by her children: Jerry (DeeDee) DiTrapani of Spring Lake, C. Cimon Cumming of Grand Rapids, Rudean (Andrew) Foster of Charleston, SC, Joey (Jenni) Harrison of Louisville, KY, Diane (Mark) Tomasunas of Tallahassee, FL, and Jim (Leslie) Foster of Honolulu, HI; 14 grandchildren; and her niece, Kim McConnell of Spring Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cal; her children, Theresa and Daniel DiTrapani; and her sister, Barbara Catt.

The Celebration of Life for Carol will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family on Sunday, August 4th, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Klaassen Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Monday, also at the funeral home.
