Bernard Kenneth Curry, age 90 of Spring Lake, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019 at his home. He was born on July 19, 1928 in Battle Creek, MI to the late Charles M. Curry and Mary Burnadette (Flyn). Bernard met his future wife, Lucille Pirrotta at the Dee-Lite Restaurant in Grand Haven. They were married on February 14, 1953, in Grand Haven and together they raised 5 children on the family farm in Robinson Township. Lucille preceded him in death in 1999.
Bernard worked in maintenance at for several years at Vanderwall Brothers, and also worked for Dake Corporation before his retirement. He and his wife were the sole supporters of the family band. Bernard enjoyed being outdoors and loved tending to his fruit and vegetable gardens, which he would harvest and can in the fall. He also took care of his farm and all the animals, which he liked doing.
Bernard will be loved and missed by his daughter, Rosaria (Robert Frick) Schoemaker of Ferrysburg; sons, Charles Curry of Norton Shores, Bernard Jr. (Barbara) Curry of Ferrysburg, and Christopher (Jodie) Curry of Fruitport; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sarah (Larry) Weimer. He was preceded in death by his wife; his son, Diego Curry; four brothers; five sisters; and his grandson, Joshua Curry.
Private family services were held on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Sal Pirrotta officiating. Interment will take place at Robinson Township Cemetery at a later date.
