Ben Klein Horsman, age 97 of Grand Haven, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018.
He was born September 30, 1921 in Ryssen, Netherlands to Egbert and Hanna (Eshuis) Klein Horsman. On August 18, 1949, he married Alice Wolters in Wierden, Netherlands. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2017, after 67 years of marriage.
Ben was a co-owner of B & B Builders for 33 years, until retiring in 1984. He was a former member of Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church, and longtime member of First Christian Reformed Church where he served as Elder and was active in the choir and Men's Society.
Ben was a talented builder and wood worker. He enjoyed creating many custom carvings during his retirement years. Ben found joy in spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Shanna Pargellis of Hoboken, NJ; and son, John (Sandy) Klein Horsman of Grand Haven; four grandchildren, Sonia (Jared) Faziszewski, Amelia Pargellis, Alisa Klein Horsman, Brent (Becca) Klein Horsman; four great-grandchildren; sister, Diet Roelofs of Ryssen, Netherlands; and brother, Ed (Marga) Klein-Horsman of Hamilton, Canada. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; son, Edward; and four brothers: Dick, Edward, Abraham, and Gerrit Klein Horsman.
The Funeral Service for Ben will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Hamstra officiating. Visitation will be Friday, December 28, from 5:00- 7:00 PM at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
