Arlene Kuhlman

Arlene Kuhlman, age 87, of Grand Haven passed away Monday, January 29, 2018. Arlene was born April 25, 1930 in Spring Lake to the late John and Margaret (Clausen) Frietchen. She married Richard Kuhlman on April 2, 1948 in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death in 2016.

Arlene ran a licensed Day Care for 15 years and Foster Care for 17 years and had also worked at Harbor Industries. She was an active member of Hope Reformed Church where she enjoyed various activities and taught Catechism. Arlene and Richard loved camping with family and spending winters in Florida. She also enjoyed baking, making candy, quilting, and sewing and was delighted that many received the blessings of these gifts.

Arlene is survived by her daughters, Linda (William) Cottrell of Grand Haven, Gayle (Jim) Strasser of Whitehall, and Brenda (Michael) Sanders of Lottsburg, Virginia; sons, Donald (Wendy) Kuhlman and Peter Kuhlman, both of Grand Haven; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and sister, Diane (Gary) VanDongen of Holland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; 2 sisters; and great-grandson, Ethan Cottrell.

The Celebration of Life for Arlene will be on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM  at Hope Reformed Church. Interment will be at Spring Lake Township Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
