Alice C. Amburgey, age 92 of Fruitport, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Heartwood Lodge. She was born on March 8, 1926 to the late Edward and Dorothy (Burns) Sturgeon in Muskegon. Alice married Buford “Beaut” Amburgey in November of 1947, and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2005.
She was a life-long resident of Muskegon and Fruitport, where she worked as a care-giver for Social Services. At one time, she also worked at Sportsman’s (Sporty’s) Bar in Grand Haven. Alice was a member of Sacred Heart Church of Muskegon Heights, and she loved to cook and share meals with her family and friends.
Alice will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Jackie (Jim) Wierengo of Muskegon; grandchildren, Jamie Wierengo (Aaron Brannick), Brian (Corrie) Wierengo, Angie (Kirk) Paulsen, David Amburgey Jr.; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Owen Wierengo, Rachel Paulsen, Carissa (Chris) Grant, David Amburgey III (Bree Smith); and great-great-grandchild, David Amburgey IV. She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, David J. and Nanci (Falzone) Amburgey; sisters, Laura Scraver and Joyce Hull; and brother, Edward Sturgeon.
The Funeral Service for Alice will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 19th from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fruitport Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
