Robert “Bob” Farmer Obituary

Robert “Bob” Charles Farmer, age 92 of Grand Haven, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at home. He was born on July 2, 1931, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Robert and Frances (Modrack) Farmer. Bob married Charlene Cribley on October 7, 1967, in Coopersville, MI.

Bob graduated from Grand Haven High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954, during the Korean War Era. Upon his discharge from the Marine Corps, he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Construction Aggregates Corp. of Michigan, which he did until his retirement.

Bob was a member of St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Parish, the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post 28, and the V.F.W. Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326 for many years. He enjoyed traveling, and especially enjoyed watching and attending any Grand Haven sporting events, with his favorite being football and basketball. He was also very involved in the Tri-Cities Kids League. Bob was his grandchildren's biggest supporter of their sporting events, always cheering them on.

Bob will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 56 years, Charlene; and their three children: Lisa Farmer, Scott (Jo) Farmer, and Todd (Julie) Farmer; five grandchildren: Ellory, Logan, Nicole, Brandon, and Amanda; seven great-grandchildren; siblings-in-law: Donnetta Gould, Ron Cribley, Arlyn (Carol) Cribley, Rosemary (Leon) Baehre, and Tim (Jan) Cribley; and two cousins, Connie Leslie, and Marge Pfieffer.

He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Charles “Bud” Cribley and William Gould; and sister-in-law, Donna Cribley.

The Memorial Mass for Bob will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Parish with Fr. Norm Droski officiating. Full Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home.
