Paul McKinnon

Paul McKinnon, age 70 of Grand Haven, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Spectrum Health Hospital Grand Rapids. He was born on June 1, 1953, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Thomas and Geneva (Dixon) McKinnon. 

Paul graduated from Grand Haven High School and eventually began a long career in law enforcement. He retired from the Montcalm County Sheriff's Office after 25 years of service. 

Paul was an outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time on Middle Island in Lake Erie and backpacking in Hawaii. He was an avid collector of stamps, old photographs of Grand Haven, Lighthouses, and sailboats. He wrote poetry and was very creative. He was an animal lover and had a special relationship with Buck, his Labrador Retriever. 

Paul will be remembered and missed by his love of 40 years, Diane McKinnon; daughters: Marianne (Scott) Durble, Jen (Jason) Vanderground, and Stephanie (Courtney Norman) McKinnon; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Betty McKinnon; and brothers, Dan (Kathy) McKinnon and John (Caroline) McKinnon.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Alice Faye McKinnon.

A private Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
