Terri Lane (Thomas) Sumner-Pearson

Terri Lane Sumner-Pearson (nee Thomas) was born in Wahkon, Minnesota and attended one-room schools in Montana and Minnesota, often traveling to school by horse and small plane. She graduated from Isle High School in Isle, Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota Duluth having studied Psychology and Business. She married Dennis Sumner in 1967 and resided in International Falls, Minnesota and Hancock, Michigan. Terri worked in personnel and administration for the U.S. National Park Service at Voyagers National Park in Minnesota, Isle Royale National Park in upper Michigan and Olympic National Park in Washington State. She ended her 20+ year career in Federal service with her retirement from the Regional Office of the U.S. Forest Service in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Terri married Walter H. Pearson in 1992 in Port Angeles, Washington and in 2008 moved to Allendale, Michigan. Terri is survived by her husband, Walter H. Pearson of Allendale; her three daughters; Kristin (Chris) Corner of Allendale, Shawn (Chad) Baumann of Allendale and Karmin (Joe) Howsley of Hales Corners, WI; step-daughter, Kristin Pearson of Hoodsport, WA; step-son, Jeffrey Pearson of Port Angeles, WA; sister, Jerine Strommer of Iowa City, IA; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ron Thomas and brother-in-law, Don Strommer. A Memorial Service for Terri will take place 3:00 pm Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home.
