Richard G. Kohnke

Richard G. Kohnke, age 91, of Spring Lake passed away July 16, 2018 at a local nursing home.  He was born November 14, 1926 in Grand Haven to the late Walter and Lora (Tripp) Kohnke.  Dick married the former Bonnie Ippen on February 14, 1948 in Grand Haven.  She passed away on June 23, 1992.  He then married Amanda Cooper on August 13, 2005.  Dick lived in the Tri-Cities area all of his life and worked for Screw Machine Specialty for 47 years.  He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1944 thru 1946 and was a member of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post # 28.  Dick was raised in the Lutheran faith, loved to fish, deer hunt, and play cards. 

He is survived by his loving family; wife, Amanda;  a daughter, Anna (Bill) Smith of Mesquite, NV; 5 sons, Wayne Kohnke of Spring Lake,  Larry (Faith) Kohnke of Port Huron, Les Kohnke of Muskegon, Paul Kohnke of Grand Rapids, and Dale (Christine) Kohnke of Grand Haven;  step-son, Gary (Jen) Cooper; step-daughters; Carol Pragg, Ruth (Mike) Frein , and Willma (Pete) Littrell. Dick was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Judy Kohnke; and siblings, Betty Grimm, Walter, Russell, Kenneth, Donald and Robert Kohnke. 

The Funeral Service for Dick will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Mr. Gary Cooper officiating. Friends are invited to meet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.  Full Military Rites will be performed by the American Legion Post #28.
