Nancy Lou Schamper, age 74, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Nancy was born February 15, 1943 in Allendale to the late Jerome and Clara (Dys) Hook. She married Gary Schamper on August 16, 1963 at the North Blendon Christian Reformed Church. Nancy had worked as a Nurse’s Aide for many years. She was an active member of First Christian Reformed Church where she sang in the church choir and served as an elder. She volunteered visiting the widows, shut-ins, and members of the church who were ill. Nancy enjoyed baking, cooking and knitting. She loved traveling, feeding and watching birds and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Gary; daughters, Cheryl (Gary) Howard of North Muskegon, Christy (Mike) Dreese of Grand Haven; sons, David Schamper of Grand Haven, Daniel (Jane) Schamper of Brooklyn, New York. Also surviving her are 7 grandchildren: Lauren, Olivia & Trevor Howard; Morgan, Alison & Lucas Dreese; and Evan Schamper; sisters, Beth (Bob) Stroven, Kathy (Bill) Thompson; brother, Don Hook; sisters-in-law, Karen (Robert) Schra, Judy (Keith) Boonstra; brothers-in law, John (Paule) Schamper, Russ (Elaine) Schamper; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The Funeral Service for Nancy will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Cory Nederveld officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Reformed Church.
