Marian A. O'Chocke

Marian A. O’Chocke, age 94, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Marian was born December 11, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Mary (Summers) Pitchwak. She married Howard G. O’Chocke on May 16, 1952 in Detroit.  He preceded her in death on June 14, 1999. Marian was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake. She was a member of both St. Patrick-St. Anthony and United Methodist Church of the Dunes Knitting Groups and also enjoyed crocheting. Marian was known for her excellent skills in baking and cooking. She was an active member of Four Pointes Senior Center. Marian especially loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Roy) Putnam of Grand Haven; son, Howard (Cindy) O’Chocke of Columbus, OH; Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Michael O’Chocke, Kelly (Lavon) Miller, Jennifer Harjer, Kristin (Jason) Essenberg, Roy Putnam Jr., Jon Putnam; 5 great-grandchildren, Chloe and Charlotte O’Chocke, Lexi and Braxton Miller, Adeline Essenberg. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor Vogel, Rita Bernard and a brother, Robert Pitchwak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Norm Droski presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, MI. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
