Leonard LeRoy Kanouse, age 77, of Grand Haven passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017.

Leonard was born on February 21, 1940 in Grand Haven to Lawrence & Twila (Robbins) Kanouse. After graduating from high school he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Leonard married Donna Yourdon in Plattsburgh, New York on May 16, 1959.  He was a very active member of the Grand Haven Salvation Army; playing tuba in the band, singing with the Songsters, teaching Sunday School, serving as Sergeant Major of the Junior Soldiers and Graduate Corps Cadet.  Leonard was a member of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28 and former member of the Eagles. He was a Boy Scout Leader and Cub Scout Packmaster. Leonard loved to bowl, play golf and work on the computer but most of all he loved his family.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Tammy (Daniel) Cuoghi of Huddleston, Virginia; sons, Terry Kanouse of Muskegon, Alan Kanouse of Grand Haven & Scott (Carmen) Kanouse of Norton Shores; seven grandchildren & three great grandchildren; sisters, Carol Bailey & Ellen (Martin) Parrott both of Spring Lake & brother, Tom(Barb) Kanouse of Grand Haven.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence & Twila (Robbins) Kanouse; brother, Richard; mother-in-law, Virginia Brendell Yourdon; father-in-law, Harold Yourdon; daughter-in-law, Tiffany Diane (Ritter) Kanouse and twin grand children, Graham Daniel & Heather LeeAnn Ruth Cuoghi.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 12:00 PM at the Grand Haven Salvation Army with Caption Jay Davis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Memorial Service. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
