Jose "Sam" Luis Gonzalez

Jose “Sam” Luis Gonzalez, 53, of Norton Shores passed away on June 1, 2017 at home. Jose was born July 12, 1963 to the late Jose and Rosa (Garcia) Gonzalez in San Juan, Texas. He graduated from Muskegon High School. Jose proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a corrections officer and retired from the State of Michigan Department of Corrections in 2016. Jose was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Adrian, MI and the Michigan Corrections Officer’s Union. He is survived by his significant other, Michelle Harloff; daughters, Krystal (Josh) Kruizenga, Samantha Gonzales; son, Jose Gonzales; grandchildren, Edward, Rosita, Joel, Garbriella, Adelyn; siblings, Jr. Gonzalez, Jane Frias, Carmen Burns, Martino Gonzalez, Ricardo Gonzalez, Maria Jordan, Robert Gonzalez.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Francisco Gonzalez. A time of reflection will be held at 5 pm on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Pettinga officiating. Full Military Rites will be performed at 5:30 pm by the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28 with visitation to follow until 7 pm.
