Joe Reiss

Joe Reiss, age 96 of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 at home. Joe was born October 3, 1920 to Leopold and Catherine (Krizac) Reiss in Allegan, MI. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Marine Corp. Joe married Louise Davis on January 2, 1948 in Grand Haven.  He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the V.F.W. and the American Legion and worked at Bastian Blessing for many years. In his younger years his owned a Christmas tree farm. Joe loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening and doing yard work. He enjoyed working on cars including replacing plugs, brakes and doing oil changes. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Louise; daughter Marilyn (Robert) Pintarelli of Appleton, WI; sons Joseph (Cherie) Reiss of Grand Haven, Matthew Reiss of Hudsonville, Mark (Shawne Nieusma) Reiss of Grand Haven; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Michael; grandson Daniel Reiss; sisters Louise Boeve and Laura Wells; brothers Leo, John and George Reiss; brothers-in-law Elmer and Arvin Davis. A private family service for Joe will be held at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Vander Meidien officiating and full Military Rites performed by the American Legion Charles A.
