Jodean Lois (Hoek) Vredeveld

Jodean Vredeveld, age 74 of Grand Haven passed away Monday, June 13, 2016. Jodean was born June 30, 1941 to John and Hazel (Dirks) Hoek in Grand Haven. Following high school graduation she married Theodore Vredeveld on April 6, 1961. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1996. Jodean worked for the Grand Haven Tribune and as a lunch aide for Central School.  She was a member of Second Reformed Church. Jodean enjoyed sewing, crafts and creating floral arrangements. She appreciated the beauty of her home town and spent days on the beach watching boats and attending Big Band concerts during the Coast Guard Festival. She was an avid Tigers fan and a supporter of all U of M sports. Jodean was known by her friends and family as a social butterfly and was happiest surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jodean will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lori (Joe) Carskadon of Grand Haven; sons Craig (Patti) Vredeveld, Jeff (Jennifer) Vredeveld both of Grand Haven; grandchildren Jason and Jessica Carskadon, Alison (Jeremy) Kanouse, Amanda and Leslie Vredeveld, Christopher and Adam Vredeveld; great-grandchildren Autumn, Guage and Jayden; sister Harmina Zattlin of Grand Haven; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Jodean will be 11:00 am Friday, June 17, 2016 at Second Reformed Church with Pastor Mark Nieuwsma officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Muskegon. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
