Joan H. (Wierenga) Bulthouse

Joan H. Bulthouse, 84, of Nunica passed away on June 2, 2017 at home. Joan was born March 27, 1933 to William and Anna (Olthof) Wierenga in Spring Lake. She married Harry Bulthouse on July 9, 1955 at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church. Joan graduated from Western Michigan Christian High School and went on to work as a teller at People’s Bank and then worked for 30 plus years as the manager at the Williamsburg Apartments in Grand Haven. She is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Harry; sons, Tim (Helen) Bulthouse of Grand Haven, Gary Bulthouse of Grand Rapids; daughters, Joann (Jim) Berdinski of Mountain Home, AR, Cheryl (David) Sonnenberg of Grand Haven;  grandchildren, Jamie Sonnenberg, Becki Mineer, Melissa Sonnenberg, Ashley Makin, Gina Bulthouse; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Emili Mineer; brothers, George, Eugene, Jon, Dave, Ken, Roy and Bill Wierenga; sisters, Janette Rycenga, Etta Peterson and Alice Whitwam; brothers-in-law, Arnold, Les, George, Dave Bulthouse; sisters-in-law, Mary Jones, Ruth VerBoncour.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Harold Wierenga; sister, Willene Brondyke. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Spring Lake Cemetery with Pastor Larry Vanderkooi officiating. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 pm on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Fund.
