Jean Grace (Achterhof) Prys

Jean Grace Prys, age 90 of Grand Haven, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Heartwood Lodge Hospice. Jean was born May 21, 1926 to Jacob and Henrietta (Bus) Achterhof in Grand Haven. She married Henry Prys Jr. on June 3, 1944 in Grand Haven. Henry passed away on August 24, 2007. Jean really enjoyed working as an accountant in several different companies. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tulip City Rock Club, Lakeshore Quilters and the past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Jean enjoyed art, quilting, ceramics, rock hounding and traveling throughout the United States in their motorhome. She especially loved spending time with her friends and family. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Carol (Lee) Shake, Becky (Barry) Simon, Rachael (Harold) Harper, daughter-in-law, Christal Prys all of Grand Haven; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Shirlee) Achterhof of Grand Haven, Alvin (Effie) Achterhof of Lake Havasu, AZ, Jake (Janet) Achterhof of Grand Haven; sister-in-law, Donna Prys McKenzie of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sons, Daniel and Timothy Prys, brother, Harold Achterhof, sisters, Kathryn VanOordt, Joan and Harriet Achterhof. The Funeral Service for Jean will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Paget officiating. Interment will be in Rusk Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 6 – 8 pm on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home.
