James F. Sall
August 23, 1933 ~ March 25, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years OldDr. James F. Sall, age 83 of Grand Haven passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017. Jim was born August 23, 1933 to Frank and Helen (Carey) Sall in Martins Ferry, OH. He married Joan Murphy on May 16, 1959. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In 1982, he graduated from Wayne State University with a Ph.D. in Sociology and was the Director of Substance Abuse for the City of Detroit for 23 years. Jim was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and a life time member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Ohio State University sports fan and he enjoyed following the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan; daughters, Joan Kelly Sall of Zeeland, MI, Judith Ann (Kurt) Klosterman of Gurnee, IL, Janet (Michael) Salley of Milford, MI; sons, James Sall Jr. of Livonia, MI, Patrick (Michelle) Sall of Eaton Rapids, MI, John (Michelle) Sall of Cary, NC and Stanley (Carla) Sall of South Lyon, MI; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; step-brother Robert (Mary) Lancendorfer of Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law Larry (Margaret) Murphy of Rotonda West, FL; sisters-in-law Jean Murphy of Highland, MI, Gloria Sall of Birmingham, MI and Ila Mae Lancendorfer of Detroit. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Sall, step-brother, Michael Lancendorfer; sister-in-law, Shirley Cunningham and brother-in-law James Murphy. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. Julian Chmura officiating. Full Military Rites will be performed with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Highland, MI.
