James Curtis Kroeze, age 76 of Grand Haven, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019 at a local care facility. He was born on June 6, 1942 in Muskegon, MI to the late Henry and Sophia (Bewalda) Kroeze. James married Darlene Dewell-Kooi in November 11, 1972 in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
James graduated from Muskegon High School, and was employed in the trucking industry until he purchased P & J Delivery Service. He enjoyed traveling to Arizona in the winter months and being in Michigan during warmer months where he enjoyed playing golf. James had a passion for MG cars, and was in the MG Club, “The Old Speckled Hens.” His favorite pastime was attending car shows and sharing his knowledge with other car enthusiasts. The most important thing to James was family, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James will be remembered and missed by all those who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Darlene; two sons, Tim (Megan) Kroeze of Iowa and Ted (Brande) Kroeze of Ludington, MI; step-son, Ralph Kooi of California; grandchildren, Kara Sagala, Kristine Kooi, Zachary Kroeze, Randall Kooi, Taylor Kroeze, Evan Kroeze, Logan Kroeze, Gabriella Kroeze; great-grandchildren, Cameron Wynn, Kailin Overly, Rylee Brimm , and Jaxon Sagala; step-great-grandson, Landon Sagala; sister, Cheryl Bigelow of Muskegon; and step-daughter-in-law, Theresa Ituarte of Arizona. Jim was preceded in death by his step-son, Mark Kooi in 2010.
Private family services will take place at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
