Ida (Rahanian) Evranian Cecchini

Ida Evranian-Cecchini, age 96 of Grand Haven passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 surrounded by her family. Ida was born January 1, 1921 to George and Eugenia (Ajemian) Rahanian in Armenia. As a baby, Ida and her family immigrated to the US relocating in Detroit, MI. Following graduation from Southwestern High School she married Emmanuel Evranian. He passed away in 1974. She later married Daniel Cecchini in 1980. He preceded her in death in 1985. After doing her part to serve her country as a “Rosie the Riveter” at Willow Run, Ida went to work for J.L. Hudson Company as a seamstress. She had a love for hats, sewing and baking fancy cakes. Ida attended St. Sarkis Armenian Church in Detroit. After moving to the area she attended United Methodist Church of the Dunes with her family where she was lovingly known as the “hat lady”. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Vicki (Donald) Reis of Grand Haven; son Charles (Ellen) Evranian of Columbus, OH, 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister and three brothers. A memorial service celebrating Ida’s life will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at United Methodist Church of the Dunes with Rev. Eldon Eldred officiating. Interment will be in Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit. Memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church of the Dunes Memorial Fund.
