Dear Mrs. Heyer,
Sandy and i just now learned of Harvey's passing last year; please accept our belated condolences. Looking back to the 60's Harvey and his partner, while attached to the Rockford post, would often stop at the MacTavish farm on Algoma (Cedar Springs) to watch Sandy practicing her barrel racing, and demonstrating his love for horses. Later, you and Harvey attended our wedding and reception (Howard City and Sand Lake VFW) in January of 68. We would later see Harvey in Grand Haven as Post Commander there. We have thought and spoken often and fondly of Harvey over the years. Our prayers are with you and family for your loss.

To Mary & family: The world will not soon see another gentleman like Harvey. Strength of character, integrity, love of family and his fellows who were privileged to share some time with him. There are no words that can adequately measure such a loss. You have our deepest condolences.

Mary, Chris, Bryan, Missy and all your extended family, I want to wish you my best in the coming days. It will be an odd feeling of his presence , but one that is comforting. After a while, you get this warm hug every time you think of him. Knowing he is spending eternity doing what he loves is even more comforting. As you wait in anticipation to see him again one day, know that God will continue to bless you and your family and care for all your needs. Much love....

To my very close and special neighbors growing up -- I am so very sad to hear this news. My heart goes out to all of you! Harvey was such an amazing person, always so strong and caring, a wonderful family man! Had such a passion for horses and giving riding lessons. (Too bad he wasn't around that day when I was riding Brownie who got spooked by the dog and threw me into the fence - yikes - I'll never forget that...) I spent so much time with all of you growing up, you were like my second family. Precious, wonderful times.
I know this is such a difficult time for all of you, but know that there are lots of us thinking of you and sharing in your sorrow. Know that he is now spending time catching up with my mom and dad, probably sharing great stories and good laughs.
Know that he is never gone, just over the horizon. He will always be with you.
Love to all of you! -Anita

It is with sadnesses for your loss that I leave these thoughts. Harv was someone I was blessed with making his acquaintance. Quiet, stoic but thoughtful. I wish that I had known him better, a man full of wisdom.

I didn't really know Mr. Heyer since I only encountered him once, a couple of months ago while judging an FQHR-MI horse show in Mt Pleasant. Having been a practicing physician for over twenty years (mostly in emergency medicine) and participating in and judging horse shows almost my entire life, I think it is fair to say that I have crossed paths with more than just a few people. Very few stand out as having that something "extra about them". Mr. Heyer was one of those very few. Obviously with my only minutes of exposure to him, I couldn't have known great details, but he was was one of the rare fellows that made me think, "What a wonderful world it would be if everybody presented themselves like this gentleman." After reading his obituary, I am glad to say, it loks like I was right. Now I can try harder to be a man of his character. Hoopefully, in my brief encounter with him, some of him rubbed off on me.

I only knew Harvey for a short time thru church and
Tuesday Golf Group. We always had a good time
together and he was always the gentleman. I always
felt like we had known each other for years. He
made you feel good as we chuckled at our golf
performances. I will miss him. My sympathy is extended to the family. God Bless. Jon Hall

Harvey was one of those people you feel so blessed to have called a friend. We met Harvey through Ginger at Hickory Stables, where he would hang out one night a week to encourage the 4H riders. He rarely would say much to the riders, so eager to hear his opinions and suggestions. But when he spoke, they listened . Our daughter, Molly, thought the world of him... he was always at the top of her list of "horse people " she looked up to , and had to invite Harvey and Mary when she graduated from high school and college, and even when she got married.
Harvey will always have a special place in our hearts, and he will be greatly missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mary and his entire family.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Heyer. I have so many wonderful childhood memories of playing in the barn, horse shows, sitting in his police car, sneaking in and taking his coffee nips and even earning "the look" a few times. The first time I met Harvey, I had just started my job with Tom and Sandy Parker at Hidden Acres Farm and I heard a car coming to the barn. I looked out the door and it was a State Police car, and I thought, 'what did I do to have the State Police coming to the barn?'. It was Harvey stopping to meet me and just say hello!
He was a kind and caring man, and even though I hadn't seen him for years, we said 'hi' to each other through our good friend, Woody. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, and my thoughts and prayers are with Mary and his family.
