George Botbyl

George Botbyl age 91 of Grand Haven passed away Monday, April 10, 2017. George was born March 3, 1926 to George and Matilda (Berg) Botbyl in Grand Haven. He married Marijean Gold on August 10, 1946 in Grand Rapids. George was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and served on the Building Committee. He was a lifetime member of the Grand Haven Rotary having served as secretary and treasurer for 43 years and was awarded the Paul Harris Award. He was also a member of the Elks and Eagles Clubs. George was owner of Botbyl Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge Dealership as well as the Botbyl Insurance Company and Grand Haven Real Estate Company. He enjoyed the great outdoors and all it had to offer including; salmon and trout fishing and deer hunting. George is survived by his wife, Marijean; daughters, Judy Klumpel of Spring Lake, Deborah (Daniel) Fett of Grand Haven; grandchildren, T.J. Klumpel, Tameron Klumpel, Jaqueline (Jay) Kruse; great-grandchildren, Carson, Abbey, Hadley, Emma and Revel. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Terry Klumpel, brother, Jerry Botbyl, grandson, Daniel R. Fett and sister, Helen Beaver. The funeral service for George will be 11:00 am Thursday, April 13, 2017 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ with Pastor Deb DeBruyn officiating.
