G. Walter "Dutch" Wolff

G. Walter (Dutch) Wolff, age 90 of Grand Haven passed away January 16, 2016 at Heartwood Lodge.  He was born May 7, 1925 to the late Herman and Emma (Berndt) Wolff in Menomonie, Wisconsin.  Dutch proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946. He married the former Jeanine V. Platt on January 6, 1951 in Wheaton, IL and recently celebrated their 65th anniversary.  Dutch was a machinist, owner and president of S. A. Platt, Inc.  He was a member and past board member of the United Methodist Church of the Dunes, former member of the Jaycees, Kiwanis, Toastmasters and the Planning Commission for the City of Grand Haven.  Dutch was awarded Citizen of the Year in 1970 from the Grand Haven Public Schools, was a Boy Scout leader and Assistant District Commander. He also was a member of the American Legion, member of the Rock & Mineral Clubs in Grand Haven, Holland and Muskegon and went to many craft shows.  Dutch is survived by his loving family; wife Jeanine, his daughter; Nanette (Paul) Ehrsam of Wichita Falls, TX and son; Jerry (Julie) Wolff of Grand Haven.  Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.  He was preceded in death by his sisters; Erna Snoeyenbos and Anna Sinz; brother and sister-in-law, Erwin & Lois Wolff.  The funeral service for Dutch will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the United Methodist Church of the Dunes with Rev. Glenn Wagner officiating.  Friends may meet the family 4-7 pm.
