Frances I. (Boomgaard) Hierholzer

Frances I. Hierholzer, age 97 of Grand Haven, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at American House in Spring Lake. Fran was born September 21, 1917 to Cornelius B. and Della (Westhoff) Boomgaard in Grand Haven. Fran was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, having served on the Ladies Aid and Altar Guild. Fran worked as a dental assistant for the Ottawa County Health Clinic. She was in charge of the drapery department at W.T. Grants in Grand Haven. Fran was also known for her wonderful cooking. As a lifelong resident of Grand Haven, Fran took great pride in her city serving as a councilwoman for 6 years. She enjoyed all the city had to offer including parades and festivals and was instrumental in preserving the Wm. Hatton Park on Jackson Street. Fran also enjoyed attending festivals throughout the state and spent time traveling abroad. Fran will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Patsy Fojtik of Grand Haven; son, John (Linda) Hierholzer of Grand Haven; grandchildren, Deborah (Scott Beverly) Fojtik, Rosemary (Don) Gardner, Daniel (Christine) Fojtik, Andrew Fojtik, Matthew (Renee`) Hierholzer, Chandler (Maria) Woodruff, Julie (Mark) Gronevelt; 16 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. The funeral service for Fran will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 22, 2015 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ with Rev. Debra DeBruyn officiating. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, August 21, 2015 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home.
