Elizabeth Louise “Betty” Christiansen, age 94, of Grand Haven passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018. Betty was born January 7, 1924 in Menominee Falls, Wisconsin to the late John and Ann (Schneider) Badke. After graduating from high school she attended the Milwaukee Cosmetology School and after graduation she owned and operated her own beauty shop. Betty married Walter Christiansen on November 27, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Menominee Falls. He passed away in 1992.
She was a member of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish and formerly, an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake for 40+ years, serving as the president of the Women’s Club. Betty enjoyed traveling and assisted with tour trips to the Holy Lands, and bus trips to Canada and Mexico. She also enjoyed playing bridge and golfing.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Jeanne (Michael) O’Brien of Georgia and son, Paul (Tammy) Christiansen of Grand Haven; grandchildren, Brad (Jenna), Ryan, Alex Christiansen, Sean and Casey O’Brien; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 sisters, and 4 brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Betty will be on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish with Rev. Charles Schwartz presiding. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 7th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 7:30 PM. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Muskegon. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish.
