Elaine S. Larsen

Elaine S. Larsen, age 92, a long-time resident of Grand Haven, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017. Elaine was born November 22, 1924 to the late Christian G. & Bertha (Mathas) Miller in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She proudly served her country in the United States Navy during World War II. Elaine married Marvin Larsen in January 30, 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marvin passed away on February 6, 2004. Elaine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the V.F.W. Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326. In her younger years, Elaine worked as a cosmetologist. After she married, she worked as a devoted homemaker and mother to her children. In her spare time Elaine enjoyed reading, knitting and sewing but what she loved most of all was working in her garden. Elaine is lovingly remembered by her children, Janet Larsen of Riverside, California; Richard (Loraine) Larsen of Seattle, Washington; Cheryl (Mark) Ralya of Grand Haven; Kristine (Tom) Dutra of Kansas City & Jill Larsen of Dallas, Texas; 6 Grandchildren, 8 Great-grandchildren, 1 Great-Greatgrandchild & sister-in-law, Maxine Miller of Wisconsin. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers & 1 sister. A Funeral Service for Elaine will be 11:00 am, Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Dieter Haupt officiating. Friends may meet the family 1 hour prior to the service at 10:00 am. Full Military Rites will be performed by the V.F.W. Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
