David H. Kindem

David Kindem, age 67 of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Heartwood Lodge Hospice.  David was born June 17, 1948 to Harold and LouAnn (Brown) Kindem in Minneapolis, MN. He went to Pacific Lutheran University in Seattle, then the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities, received his Bachelor Degree in Communication Arts and his Masters in Speech Communication.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. David married Luann Johnson on July 2, 1977 in Twin Lake, MI.  David worked at Structure Interactive in Grand Rapids for 12 years. He was an avid writer and was a co-author of “The Lake Line”, a book about the “interurban” street cars that serviced Western Michigan. He enjoyed researching history and genealogy and brewing beer. David will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Luann; daughter, Erin (Ronald Epplett Jr.) Koopman of Grand Haven; son, Jeff Kindem of Grand Haven; granddaughter, Willa and her father, Tom Koopman; mother-in-law, Vivian Bixeman of Spring Lake; sister-in-law, Gale Bixeman of Spring Lake; brothers, Todd (Jan) Kindem of Union, KY, Jon (Karen) Kindem of Inger Grove Heights, MN; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Mary) Johnson of Oconomowoc, WI, Don Bixeman Jr. of Spring Lake. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Venessa Koopman.  The memorial service for David will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Full Military Honors will be performed by the V.F.W. Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326. Relatives and friends may meet with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
