Mr. Jeffrey Allen Wierenga, age 56, of Atlanta, GA (formerly of Grand Haven) passed away December 31, 2012 at his home. He was born September 8, 1956 in Grand Haven to Kenneth and Joyce (Meeusen) Wierenga. Jeff lived in Atlanta the past 34 years where he received his degree in architecture at Georgia Tech. Shortly after graduating he joined TVS & Associates in Atlanta where he designed many buildings, such as civic centers and industrial complexes. Jeff was the longest living adult heart transplant patient with just one transplant, he celebrated 30 years on April 17, 2012. He lived a full life traveling to 18 countries and all over the United States. He attended the Peachtree Presbyterian Church and really enjoyed building models of rockets and space equipment. Jeff also was a professional photographer and received many awards over the years. He loved NASCAR and Indy cars. Jeff was an inspiration to many transplant patients. Jeff will be missed by his family, friends, and co-workers. Jeff is survived by his loving family; mother, Joyce Wierenga of Grand Haven, sisters; Judy Wierenga, Grand Haven, Kim Street, Apple Valley, MN and Pam (Marlin) Ingalls of Spring Lake. Also surviving are niece, Heather Ingalls and nephew Brad Ingalls. He was prececed in death by his father, Kenneth Wierenga in 2010. The Funeral Service for Jeff will be 2:00 pm Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Visker officiating. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Friends may greet his family 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials in Jeff’s name may be given to First Reformed Church or Ferrysburg Community Church.
